FEATURING OVER 300 HOLES OF HISTORIC, CHAMPIONSHIP AND COASTAL GOLF Donald Ross, Tom Bendelow and Jack Daray - architect of Olympia Fields in Chicago, designed courses here early in the last century. Recently - Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Davis Love III and Mark Cucumber all built their best here to give golfers a choice of the classic historic tracks as well as their new championship layouts - golf to fit every skill level and every budget. Some area courses have new greens, tees and fairways with most in their best conditions ever. Golfers have been visiting the area since 1908 - nearly 100 years - and we look forward to welcoming golfers the next 100 years to Mississippi's "Golf" Coast.

In Birmingham, tour the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, where sports heroes and their memories live forever. Visit Rickwood Field, the world's oldest ballpark, and view America's largest motorcycle collection at Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. The AMA Superbike Championship in April and the Grand American Rolex Series in July occur at the adjacent Barber Motorsports Park. Metropolitan Birmingham also boasts a variety of fine restaurants, exciting nightlife, museums, historic sites and shopping. Birmingham's minor league Barons play at Regions Park in Hoover.

The area offers everything from scenic coast lines to wetland preserves, to rolling hills, to links-style golf and three courses cut right out of an Alabama forest preserve.
Our courses are challenging and picturesque, but conveniently close to all of our lodging providers. We offer Beach Front and other condominiums, moderate to resort hotels and beach houses.

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is the largest golf course construction project ever attempted. The New York Times calls it "...some of the best public golf on Earth." The Trail was funded by the Retirement Systems of Alabama with the following investment philosophy: "The stronger the Retirement Systems of Alabama can make Alabama, the stronger the Retirement Systems of Alabama will be."
One of the most unique aspects of the Trail are the tee locations. You see, the tee markers on the Trail are pegged to ability level, not age or gender. The courses were designed to measure as short as 4,700 yards and as long as about 7,700 yards from the tournament tees, with as many as 12 tee boxes in-between. The courses offer a tremendous amount of flexibility. As one Director of Golf put it, "The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is an incredible golfing experience for everyone. The courses will challenge the best golfers in the world, yet at the same time allow an enjoyable outing for the casual to beginning golfer."
