Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club is an award winning Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, which according to Golf Digest is “an 18-hole championship layout that ranks among his finest.” Pawleys Plantation is recognized as one of the top layouts in all of the Grand Strand area and is considered a “must play” on any trip to the area. Nicklaus designed Pawleys Plantation “to capture the natural terrain and complement and enhance the beauty of the salt marsh and Lowcountry.”
The par 72 layout winds through hardwood and pine forests and along the saltwater marsh dividing Pawleys Island from the mainland. While landing areas and greens are generous, the course does require golfers to think their way around all 18 holes, remaining true to Nicklaus’ belief that golf “is a game of precision as well as power.” The front nine features tree-lined fairways and beautiful lakes, while the back nine delivers spectacular views of the salt marsh from six different holes, including the signature 13th hole. The TifEagle hybrid Bermuda grass greens offer subtle contours and run-offs typical to a Jack Nicklaus design. The golf course stretches to 7,026 yards from the “Golden Bear” tees and boasts a course rating of 75.7 and slope of 148. However with five sets of tee boxes there is a course available and suitable to challenge all levels of golfers of any age or gender.
